Hydration is key

A few months ago my 90 year old grandmother was suffering from many dizzy spells. Whenever she would abruptly sit up in bed or try to stand up she would feel very light-headed. We were very worried that these dizzy spells might lead to her falling. When she visited her doctor, he told us that my grandmother needs to drink more water. He felt that her dizziness was directly related to dehydration. He gave her the daily goal of drinking 3 bottles of water a day. At first my grandmother was reluctant, but she gave it a try and it has made WORLDS if difference. She no longer suffers from dizzy spells!!

There's no doubt about that. When you're 90 years old, your blood pressure may be okay, but if your blood volume is down a little because you're not taking in enough fluids, it's going to be that much harder for your heart to keep up when you first sit or stand. It really is amazing what dehydration can do to you; and how much better we all function when we're hydrated.
